Privacy Policy

Ahmaris is a Christ-centered matchmaking and dating guidance platform designed for singles who want to approach relationships with greater intention, wisdom, and purpose. This policy explains what we collect through our website and mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account details: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and gender.
Application information: your answers to the Relationship Readiness Questionnaire, your profile (city, state, bio, interests, whom you are seeking), and photos you upload.
References: the name and email of a person you ask to recommend you, and the letter they submit.
Messages: conversations you have with members you are introduced to.
ID verification: when you scan the back of your driver’s license, we read the barcode to confirm your legal name, date of birth, and height against your profile, and record that it was verified. We keep your legal name for the person you are matched with to see once you are both verified and connected. We do not store your license number, your address, or an image of your ID.
Background check status: whether a check you consented to was completed and its outcome, provided by our screening partner. We do not receive or store the underlying report.
Scheduling: the time of consultations you book through our scheduling partner.
Inquiries: what you send through the contact form on our website: your name, email address, what you are reaching out about, and how you heard about us.
Newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address, the date you subscribed, and the date you confirmed it.
User testing: if you ask to take part in user testing before Ahmaris opens, your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, city, and state. If you agree to receive text messages, we also keep the date you agreed and the exact wording you agreed to.
Technical data: device type, app version, and basic diagnostics needed to keep the service working.

How we use it

To review your application and decide whether to offer membership.
To craft thoughtful introductions between members, including a matchmaker-written summary of who you are.
To let members you are introduced to see your first name, age, city, photo, bio, and interests once both of you accept.
To show your photos in Ahmaris marketing (our website, social media, and ads) only if you tick the optional box on your photo card. You can untick it at any time, and we stop using them from then on.
To send you account emails such as verification codes, task reminders, and introduction updates.
To reply to inquiries you send us through the website.
To send you our newsletter, if you asked for it and confirmed your address. We do not add anyone to it automatically, and we never sell, rent or share the list.
To contact you about user testing, if you asked to take part. We text you about it only if you agreed to texts when you signed up.
To keep the community safe and to comply with the law.

Sensitive information

The questionnaire asks about your faith, relationship history, and personal habits. We collect these answers only because they are central to the matchmaking service you are applying for. They are visible to your matchmaker and are never shown to other members in raw form.

Sharing

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with:

Members you are introduced to, limited to the profile details described above.
Service providers that host our data, deliver email, process payments, and run background checks you consent to, each bound to use it only on our behalf.
Authorities when required by law or to protect the safety of a member.

We do not share your mobile number, or your agreement to receive text messages, with anyone for their own marketing.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your application or membership is active. You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings → Delete your account on the website, or Profile → Delete your account in the app. That removes your profile, photos, questionnaire answers, advice conversations, and messages straight away, and it cannot be undone. Introductions you were part of are closed, and the messages in them are removed for both people. If you would rather we did it for you, email hello@ahmaris.com from the address on your account and we will remove everything within 30 days. Either way we keep only what the law requires us to retain, and the one safety exception below.

One exception, for the safety of other members. If another member reported you to us before you left, we keep a one-way fingerprint of your email address (not the address itself) together with how many reports there were, the category each fell under, and the dates. We do not keep your name, your photos, your messages, or anything the reporters wrote about you. The fingerprint is salted with a secret that never leaves our database, so it cannot be reversed, matched against any other list, or used to identify you. Its only purpose is to let us recognise the situation if someone applies again with the same address, so that the same concerns are not raised from scratch by the next person.

User testing. Asking to take part in user testing does not create an account. We delete the details you gave us 12 months after you last send them to us. To have them removed sooner, reply to the email we sent when you signed up, or write to hello@ahmaris.com.

Your choices

You can update your profile at any time in the app.
You can decline any introduction without giving a reason.
You can request a copy of your information or ask us to correct it.
You can stop text messages about user testing at any time by replying STOP.
You can leave the newsletter from the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any issue, which takes effect immediately. Membership emails (verification codes, introductions, anything from your matchmaker) are separate and are not marketing.

Children

Ahmaris is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
